Four arrested for armed robbery in Nkhata Bay

Police in Nkhata Bay District have arrested four people in connection with an armed robbery on Monday morning.

Nkhata Bay Police publicist, Kondwani James, identified the victim as Geoffrey Manda, a businessman from Kavuzi trading centre in the district, who was hijacked while driving his Toyota Voxy and robbed of K2.5 million.

James says the suspects are two Malawians; Amos Manda, 35, and Alex Nyasulu, 42 and two South Africans; Marvelous Khowane, 26, and Bnekisipho Mthembu, 41.

He added that during the arrest, the police found two loaded pistols and K1,226,000 in cash.

The suspects have been charged with robbery and will appear in court soon.
