Rehabilitation works on the M1 Road near Kabula Police Station in Blantyre have resumed, following damage by Cyclone Freddy in 2023.
Speaking to MBC Digital at the site, road users expressed optimism that the repairs will ease traffic congestion and improve road safety.
Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Ammiel Champiti, confirmed the rehabilitation works will be completed within two weeks, noting that it is part of the government’s development plans.
According to Glory Benito, a plant operator on site, the project is progressing well with adequate resources available.
A road user, Hammid Malisawa, commended the rehabilitation efforts, saying they have reduced traffic jam and improved vehicle flow along the route.
The project is part of the broader government initiatives to restore key national roads damaged by Cyclone Freddy and improve transport efficiency.
