Africa Netball Cup LOC unpacks gains, lessons

Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the just ended Africa Netball Cup has unpacked the gains and lessons for the just ended continental netball tournament.

Speaking in Lilongwe during the final update on the tournament, LOC Chairperson, Limbani Matola, says it has been a great success surpassing the expectations despite a few technical hitches.

Matola says the LOC has received positive feedback from the International Netball body, Africa Netball and the participating teams for an impressive host.

He says the committee managed to beat the financial target as it has registered a K4 million surplus, which has been handed over to the Netball Association of Malawi.

Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Yamikani Kauma, hailed all the stakeholders, government and sponsors for the success of the tournament.

Kauma says the Association is not impressed with Malawi teams’ performance and will have an assessment task with the technical teams for recommendations and improvements ahead of the 2026 engagements.

Malawi hosted the 2025 Africa Netball Cup from 8 to 14 December at Griffin Saenda Sports Complex with South Africa wining gold in both ladies and Men’s categories while Malawi Queens and King finished fourth and seventh respectively.
