APM delivers 50% objectives

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika says he has already achieved 50% of his objectives since taking power in 2025.

President Mutharika said this in Lilongwe before departing for South Africa on a private visit, a statement signed by Chief Secretary to the Government, Justin Saidi has said.

In his message to Malawians President Professor Mutharika urged the citizenry to remain united in building the country.

“I came back with two objectives. One was to make sure that Malawi can not become a one-party state again, dictatorship. That I succeeded, so I achieved 50% of my objective. The second one was to make sure that we rebuild this country again, economically, and we are doing that now. We are almost successful, we are nearly there,” President Mutharika said.

The Malawi leader added that economic indicators show that the country is in the right direction.

However, President Mutharika said this takes time.

“Like in 2014, it took us almost 1 and a half years to build the economy,” he said.

President Mutharika added that he promised to serve for 5 years.

“You should wait until 2030 where there will be a competition and hand over the government then to another member of the Democratic Progressive Party,” he said.
