World Economic Forum has launched a Cervical and Breast Cancer Coalition at the 77th World Health Assembly in Gevena, Switzerland that is aimed at providing ministers of health worldwide access to an expert network of partners and resources.
Head of Global Health for Women’s Health, Amira Ghouaibi said ministers of health will have an opportunity to showcase best practices and groundbreaking efforts for breast cancer care and cervical cancer elimination in their countries that could be replicated and shared elsewhere.
Sub-Saharan Africa bears the highest burden of cervical cancer cases and deaths in the world, with 19 of the 20 hardest-hit countries globally in this region.
Breast and cervical cancer are among the most common cancers affecting Malawian women, of which cervical cancer is the most frequent cancer diagnosis according to Ministry of Health records.
