STATE DISCHARGES 2 IN  K4.3 BN COMPENSATION CASE

Director of Public Prosecutions Steve Kayuni has asked the Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Lilongwe to discharge two of the nine accused in a case where former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor,  Dalitso Kabambe and nine others are accused of compensating FDH Bank K4.3 billion without the board’s approval.

The two are Leah Donga and Rodrick Wiyo who work at the Central Bank.

Kayuni also asked for 21 days to conclude compiling evidence documents for the case.

The defence lawyer for Kabambe,  Fostino Maere, has complained about the State’s delay and asked the court to discharge Kabambe and Henry Mathanga from the case until the State is ready.

Chief Resident Magistrate, Madalitso Chimwaza, has adjourned the case to 22 September 2022.
