The Reserve Bank of Malawi has launched a Trustee Development Programme aimed at building the capacity of Pension Fund trustees and improving fund management.
Ben Kajwang, a representative of the consultant engaged in developing the trustees’ programme curriculum, noted that Malawi’s pension funds are growing, highlighting the need to invest in training the trustees.
The Governor of the Bank, Wilson Banda, concurred with Kajwang, indicating that, given the growth of Malawi’s pension funds, competence and sound management will be vital.
Banda also described the programme as a significant step for Malawi’s wealth creation.
