Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has commended the government for restoring donor confidence which has been lacking for the past 13 years.
PAC Communications Officer, Bishop Gilford Immanuel Matonga, said the gesture signifies the confidence donors have in the current administration.
He said their mandate is to inform the government when things are not going well and to speak up when everything is on track.
Chairperson for the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament, Joyce Chitsulo, said it is high time people put politics aside and commend the government’s strides in gaining donor confidence.
Chitsulo also called for a multispectral approach to maintaining financial prudence so that budgetary support is sustained for the betterment of the nation.
Principal Secretary for Education in the Ministry of Education, Mangani Katundu, said the resumption of direct budgetary support is a great milestone as the education sector has been failing to implement some of its projects due to budget deficits.
