Organisers of Mpoto Awards, which recognize talent in the Northern Region, have revealed that this year’s edition will take place on November 22.
One of the organisers, Burnet Mulungu, says the awards have been expanded from nine to 24 categories, including new additions like Best Education Institution, Best Radio Personality, Best TV Personality and Best Gender Equality Champion.
Mulungu said the nominations will open on September 16 and close on October 14, 2024 and the voting for the nominated individuals will be done through the event’s official website.
He then urged the public to participate in nominating and voting to ensure that deserving individuals are recognized.
“Eligible nominees are those currently residing in the Northern Region. It doesn’t matter if they are originally from elsewhere, as long as they live in the North, they can be nominated. Individuals who are originally from the North but are not currently based here are not eligible. Voting, however, is open to everyone,” said Mulungu.
