In a bid to encourage students in the country to strive for the best academic performance, Maranatha Students who sat for the 2022 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) stand a chance to fly to Victoria Falls in Zambia if they will pass with flying colours.
The institution says both students from private and public schools who will get excellent grades will stand a chance to fly to the tourist destination in Zambia courtesy of Maranatha Academy.
Maranatha Academy Managing Director, Ernest Kaonga, said on Monday, that this is one way of promoting competitiveness among students
in line with the government’s vision of promoting quality education.
Kaonga said candidates who will score six points will fly to Victoria Falls in Zambia where they will partake in various recreational activities.
“They will have time to interact and share stories of their success among themselves. This is also one way for them to refresh their brains,” said Kaonga.
The Managing Director also said the school will continue with their usual awards to all top performers for MSCE.
In previous years, the school have been spoiling students who scored 6 points with trips to Sun and Sand Holiday resort in Mangochi and in 2014 it is on record that the academy took 50 students who performed highly in MSCE to South Africa.
Chairperson for Parents Teachers Association (PTA) for the institution, Mr Chawezi said discipline is key if one has to excel in anything including education.
As a way of thanking the students for maintaining discipline for their entire stay at the school, the students were given a special treat of boarding a plane to Lilongwe.
“We put motivation as one of our key priorities. What we are doing energises the students to strive for excellence, that’s what we want to see happening in both public and private schools,” said Chawezi.
Maranatha Schools are privately owned however, their strategy is to bring on board all top performers on board as a way of promoting academic excellence.
