The Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda who is leading a Malawian delegation to the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC, USA, says Malawi will use the meetings to discuss among others the country’s development agenda and aid effectiveness with the country’s development partners.
The meetings, which are currently underway will end on Saturday this week. During the meetings issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development and aid effectiveness will be discussed.
The minister has since indicated that this is the forum for Malawi to discuss the country’s economic situation and aid effectiveness with both bilateral and multilateral partners that are helping in the rebuilding of the Malawi economy.
The Spring Meetings have brought together ministers of finance and development, central bankers, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and academicians from across the globe.
