Govt to reach more Malawians with MAREP

Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola says government is committed to expanding electricity access to more Malawians through the Malawi Rural Electrification Program (MAREP), which aims to improve livelihoods across the country.

Speaking at a rally at Kacheta Ground, after officially launching MAREP phase 9 electricity at Kacheta Trading Centre, Matola said it is President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s vision to connect more communities to electricity, which is the driver of the country’s economy.

He also encouraged the community to continue rallying behind the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and its leadership.

Minister of Trade and Member of Parliament for Lilongwe Nsozi North, Sosten Gwengwe, assured the people of sustained development in the area. He said the electricity connection and the ongoing construction of the Nathenje Bridge will advance development.

Gwengwe also urged the people to register to vote in the upcoming 2025 elections.

MCP member and Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, urged the people to vote for Dr. Chakwera and also highlighted achievements of his administration.

The event was attended by several Members of Parliament, local chiefs, and other MCP officials.
