A global feminist movement called ‘Just Associates’ (JASS) says it is committed to breaking the barriers of communication in the fight against HIV.
Phumi Mtetwa, JASS Southern Africa Regional Director, disclosed this at the launch of a Chichewa HIV Treatment Literacy Training Manual in Lilongwe on Saturday.
HIV Care and Treatment Officer in the Ministry of Health, Brown Chiwandira, hailed the initiative, saying it aligns with the government’s ambitions.
“One of the pillars being promoted by the ministry is the fight against HIV. Currently, the ministry doesn’t have a handbook and we will be relying on the manual,” Chiwandira said.
Malawi’s National Strategic Plan on the HIV/AIDS epidemic is to eliminate it as a public health issue by 2030.
