Cyclones damaged soil, Illovo Sugar laments

Illovo Sugar Company has embarked on a production rotation strategy to retain soil health.

The company’s Financial Director, Kondwani Msimuko, disclosed this on Wednesday in Blantyre during an investor meeting.

According to Msimuko, this strategy comes in response to the damage caused by flooding in their farming areas, specifically in Dwangwa and Nchalo.

He revealed that the floods have left the soil in their production areas with high salt levels, which is hindering the growth of their sugarcane crops.
