Community spirit shines in schoolblock project

In a heart-warming display of unity and dedication, residents of Sigelege in Blantyre’s Chilomoni township have come together, collecting sand for the construction of a new school block at Sigelege Primary School, laying the foundation for a brighter future for their children.

After touring the project, which is being done under Malawi Education Reform Programme (MERP), Principal Secretary for Basic education in the Ministry of Education, Rachel Chimbwete Phiri, expressed excitement with the progress.

“This showcases power of community spirit and the unwavering commitment to improving education in the country,” she remarked.

More than 10,000 school blocks will be constructed by the end of 2025 through MERP.
