Bullets back on top

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are back on top of the TNM Super League table as they annihilated Moyale Barracks 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets now have 24 points from 9 games, closely followed by Mighty Wanderers with 22 points, but have played 8 games.

On the other hand, Moyale Barracks have moved down from 6th to 8th with 13 points after playing 9 games.

Bullets were strong from the start as they dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities.

Chikumbutso Salima first found the target in the 11th minute when he connected a Babatunde Adepoju through-ball afte he had received a cross from Sean MacBrams in a counter-attack.

This briefly jogged up Moyale Barracks’ game-play as they started gaining control, especially in the midfield where Charles Nkhoma and Walusungu Mdoka made brilliant passing connections, but lacked clinical finishing.

On the 20th minute, Mdoka was replaced by Clever Kalumbo.

18 minutes later, Bullets doubled the lead through McBrams who received a through ball from Babatunde following another counter-attack.

In the second half, Bullets started with a series of attacks but by then Moyale Barracks’ defence was firm and alert.

But their resilience did not last because Chawanangwa Gumbo extended the lead to three through a strong shot that Moyale’s keeper, Jeremiah Simfukwe, failed to save.

In the dying minutes, Bullets continued to pile pressure on the visitors but Moyale’s defence was made crucial clearances.

At the end of the game, Bullets’ talisman, Babatunde Adepoju, was crowned as the Man-of-the-Match.

Coach for Bullets, Peter Mponda, described the game as a rollercoaster of a match.

He criticized his defence for not being totally strong.

Moyale Barracks’ gaffer, Pritchard Mwansa, said the defeat is very painful for them.

He added that he did not expect that his side could play the way they did.

Elsewhere in the league, Silver Strikers defeated Karonga United 3-1 while Chitipa United destroyed Songwe Border United 4-0, to pile more misery on the border side in the TNM Super League.

Civil Service have defeated Creck Sporting Club 2-0.
