AMBASSADOR YOUNG RETIRES

David Young, the United States of America Ambassador to Malawi, has retired from his duties after serving the US Government for 34 years.

In a press statement released by the US Embassy in Lilongwe, Amy Diaz has been appointed as Young’s temporary replacement.

Reflecting on his tenure, the outgoing ambassador expressed gratitude.

“Serving as U.S Ambassador to Malawi has been one of the greatest honours of my life” reads the statement.

The search for a successor will commence following nominations from the White House and confirmation by the Senate.

Young assumed office as the U.S. Ambassador to Malawi on March 3, 2022.
