Political experts have commended President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for picking Vitumbiko Mumba as his running mate ahead of the 16 September General Election.
They have described the move as strategic, which can potentially boost the party’s appeal.
Political analyst, Humphrey Mvula, described Mumba as a dynamic and visionary leader who is liked by many Malawians.
Mvula said President Chakwera’s choice gives the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) an advantage over the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), particularly with Peter Mutharika’s running mate, Jane Ansah.
Political commentator, Lyson Sibande, shared similar sentiments, saying that Mumba’s inclusion brings fresh energy and renewed optimism to the MCP campaign.
According to Sibande, MCP has made a strategic and sensible choice that aligns with the aspirations of many Malawians.
