Churches Action and Relief in Development (CARD) says its financial literacy education has started paying off for the people of Dowa.
CARD, which is implementing a Kuwala Ultra Poor Graduation Project in the district, has witnessed a growth in micro-enterprises, a development which has rejuvenated business activities as well as cash flow.
“Almost all the people we met were not doing any type of business, the situation has however changed as 98% of them are now doing business,” CARD’s project support officer, Thelma Chirwa, told MBC Digital.
The organization, which partnered Christian Aid and FARMSE to end poverty among the rural population, says its objectives are now being achieved.
One of the beneficiaries, Dickson Ng’oma, says the financial literacy education, coupled with village savings and loan groups, has helped scale up his financial capital over the past 12 months.
Ng’oma’s financial capital has grown to K600,000 from a meagre K30,000.
