Veep commends MBC for reforms progress

Vice President Dr Michael Usi has praised the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) for its progress in implementing reforms, particularly in terms of its programming and other initiatives.

Dr Usi made the remarks during a reforms review meeting with MBC management in Blantyre.

The Vice President encouraged the corporation to maintain its momentum in implementing reforms that benefit the public and promote national development.

MBC Director General George Kasakula presented the corporation’s achievements, highlighting several notable achievements, including the introduction of MBC-TV 2 On The Go and the procurement of a state-of-the-art outside broadcasting van.

“MBC has been working hard for the past 4 years, and the fruits are undeniable,” Kasakula said, emphasising the corporation’s commitment to raising standards.

Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu, expressed optimism about MBC’s progress, stating, “I believe MBC is on the right track, and that it will continue to serve Malawians better.”

The meeting between Dr. Usi and MBC management is part of the Vice President’s ongoing series of reforms progress review meetings with government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The Vice President’s engagement with MBC was meant to assess the corporation’s progress in implementing reforms, identify areas for improvement and provide guidance on addressing challenges.
