Church leaders urged to harness digital media

Local church leaders have been called upon to utilise digital media to spread accurate and objective messages that will help people make well-informed decisions.

The call was made by Carlo Serrano, President of Manna University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States of America, in Lilongwe at the end of a two-day seminar for pastors and church leaders organised by Kairos Leadership Institute and Theological Seminary (KLITS).

According to Serrano, the seminar was organised to share knowledge and experience on the critical role of Christian leadership and how leaders shape followers and communities.

“It’s important to know that iron sharpens iron; hence, Christian leaders can shape each other and share important points on pulpit use and spreading the gospel in the right way,” Serrano explained.

Another facilitator, Clem Ferris of Clem Ferris Ministries in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, commended the local Christian leaders for their unity in the ministry, saying it is key to service and to reaching a larger audience.

Bishop Sahanny Kamwendo of Kairos Leadership Institute and Theological Seminary (KLITS) described the seminar as an important vehicle that sharpened the leaders to serve and minister with excellence.

“The seminar covered topics such as teamwork in five-fold ministry, apostles and prophets working together, and pitfalls in five-fold ministry,” Bishop Kamwendo explained.

The seminar aimed at providing a biblical foundation and guidelines for the five-fold ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers described in Ephesians 4:11–16.
