The President is accompanied by the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera among other government officials.
The Malawi leader is donating assorted relief items to the affected people.
Dr Chakwera has noted that there is a need for proper coordination and communication when disasters arise to ascertain quick responses.
He has also called for proper assessment of development projects to deter environmental degradation.
