For the first time in history the country's Chief Justice will now have a deputy, this follows a constitutional amendment bill that Parliament passed on Thursday, July 9 2021.
The amendment among others seeks to create the office of the Deputy Chief Justice.
The bill was passed after a rigorous process in which the National Assembly agreed to scrap off a proposal to recruit judges on contract.

The Ministers’ remarks follow an outcry from some sections of society claiming that twelve officials will accompany a five athlete Olympic team to Japan, a situation deemed as a drain of government resources.

All is set for Malawi to start growing cannabis for industrial and medicinal production in the 2021/2022 growing season, the Cannabis Regulatory Authority has announced. According to the board, there is need for universities to carry out more research on industrial hemp so that the industry can help accelerate the country’s socio-economic development.
