Mwanamvekha was commenting on the 2016/2017 national budget which the Minister of Finance has presented to the nation.
“My message is that the budget which the Minister of Finance has announced is good budget, even the MRA will be able to collect the money that has been projected in the budget,” said Mwanamvekha adding that the private sector should be compliant because when they adhere interests and penalties that are put in place by Malawi Revenue Authority shall be avoided.
The Minister further said the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism will do its best to create conducive environment which the Ministry is doing for businesses to operate without challenges.
The Minister added that a number of regulations like Company Act are already in place.
However, the Minister said if companies deliberately fail to pay taxes the law will take its course hence those companies once found evading tax will face stiff penalties.
The tax which government collects is used to construct roads, schools, hospitals, pay salaries for the public sector, the police, the army, teachers, doctors and nurses.
