The spirited Flames displayed resilience and played as a unit which give them higher chances of qualifications to the next round depending on results from other groups.

Malawi's goalie, Charles Thom, was awarded Man of The Match in the encounter.

The Flames almost earned a penalty in the 72nd minute after Gomezgani Chirwa was brought down in the box by Senegal's defender, Bouna Sarr,  but VAR check sucked off the joy from the Flames when Cameroon referee Blaise Ngwa waved normal play.

In another encounter, Zimbabwe has beaten Guinea 2-1.
