The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has asked President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to resubmit Martha Chizuma’s names as director general of the Ant-Corruption Bureau (ACB) before Parliament’s Public Appointments Committee (PAC).

Lawyer representing Thom Mpinganjira, in a case in which the businessman is being accused of attempting to bribe Constitution Court judges, Patrice Nkhono, has asked presiding judge, Justice Dorothy Degabrielle, to recuse herself from the case, on allegation of impropriety against her and the Judge President of the High Court.

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) “has learnt with shock and sadness of the killing of 28 year old Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga.”

A Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier, Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga has been killed while serving in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) under the
United Nations Organization Stabilisation Mission.
