This year’s Kulamba Traditional Ceremony of the Chewa people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique has been cancelled due to the rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic in Malawi and Zambia. Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi of the Chewa people directed that the ceremony which usually takes place towards the end of August at Mkaika in Zambia, be cancelled. Confirming the development to MBC, Senior Chief Lukwa has meanwhile advised his subjects to adhere strictly to COVID-19 guidelines, adding that following health advice is the only way the pandemic will be defeated.
