The body of the late Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga who was killed while serving under the United Nations Peace-keeping Force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will arrive in Malawi tomorrow, Saturday, May 22 2021.

Kamanga, aged 28, was killed on May 10 2021 when an unknown Illegal Armed Group (IAG) attacked one of Malawi Contingent’s base, Kiliya, in Eastern DRC.

MDF Acting Public Information Officer Emmanuel Mlelemba said the plane carrying the remains of the fallen peace-keeper is expected to land at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) at around 12:40 hours.


“A brief military service will be held before the body is driven off,” said Mlelemba.


According Mlelemba, Chitenji Kamanga will be buried on Sunday at Chamande Village, Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba.

Kamanga was based at Malawi Maritime Force Headquarters in Monkey-bay, Mangochi.
