According to Mangochi Police Deputy Publicist Amina Daudi, the incident happened on Wednesday night at Mwanyama Village in Mangochi.

Daudi, said the victim is in a love affair with a nurse Vanilla, a nurse at Mangochi District Hospital, who is also in a relationship with Mpuluka.

“On Wednesday night, Mpuluka arrived at his girlfriend's house, only to find the victim chatting with the woman inside her bedroom and confrontation ensued. In the course Mpuluka drew his Steya M9-A1 Riffle and fired Mbalasa twice on the right foot,” said Daudi.

Mpuluka is also accused of firing three shots at Mbalasa’s vehicle before leaving the scene.

Daudi said Mpuluka handed himself over to Police on Thursday morning and is expected to appear in court today, Friday to answer charges of Acts intended to cause grevious harm and malicious damage.

Mpuluka comes from Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba District.
