It was a tough weekend in office for Ntopwa FC as they completed the first round with two defeats in the northern region.

On Sunday, the Magheto Boys lost 3-1 to Ekwendeni Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium where they also lost 2-1 to Mzuzu Warriors on Saturday.


Ekwendeni Hammers secured maximum points through Chawanangwa Gumbo (brace and Clever Kaira while Ellard Chagwetsa scored Ntopwa's consolation goal.

Ntopwa are [currently] on eleventh position with 14 points from 15 games.


They have become the second side to finish the first round campaign after Chitipa United FC, who are third from the bottom on the 16-member-log table with 13 points.


Elsewhere, Red Lions suffered a 0-2 home defeat to Moyale FC at Chiwembe Stadium in Blantyre. Moyale netted through Crispin Fukuzi and Robert Mphezi.


Mighty Tigers forced a barren draw against league leaders, Silver Strikers FC. The Bankers had a chance to bag three points when they won a penalty, but forward Maxwell Gasten Phodo failed to convert it.


Silver still top the log table with 32 points from 14 games, followed by Nyasa Big Bullets with 26 points from 13 games.


Ekwendeni Hammers are on fourth position with 22 points from 13 games. Moyale and Red Lions are on positions six and seven with 21 and 19 points from 14 and 13 games, respectively.


Tigers anchor the standings with 10 points from 14 games.
