Highlights of FAM elections as McMillan Walter Nyamilandu gets re-elected for 5th term

MBC Online presents highlights of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) elections held on December 14 at Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

Voting pattern: 36 affiliates of FAM were eligible to vote. One vote each.

 

Chairperson of the electoral committee: High Court judge Justice Sylvester Kalembela.

 

FAM PRESIDENT

 

Winner: McMillan Walter Nyamilandu, 23 votes. Re-elected for 5th term since 2004. Term runs until 2024. Manifesto theme: #RaisingTheBar.

 

Loser: James Mwenda, 13 votes. Former Ist Vice President, served 8 years in position. Manifesto theme: Football Rebirth.

 

FAM Ist VICE PRESIDENT

 

Winner: Jabar Alide replaces Mwenda as FAM's incoming 1st Vice President, 21 votes.

 

Loser: Daudi Mtanthiko, 15 votes.

 

FAM 2nd VP

 

Winner: Othaniel Hara, retained his seat. 21 votes.

Loser: Lameck Khonje: 15.

 

NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Rashid Ntelela is the only surviving executive committee member from the previous committee following the election of at least 4 new executive committee members that includes Chimango Munthali, Christopher Kuyera, Muhamad Seleman and Felister Dossi.
