Japanese Ambassador tours MBC

Japanese Ambassador to Malawi Kae Yanagisawa on Thursday, March 16 toured the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation - MBC Offices in Blantyre.

During the visit Yanagisawa hailed the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation for championing programs that have transformed lives of many Malawians. She however said her government will continue supporting MBC for it to continue operating effectively.

 

This was in an apparent reference to initiatives such as MBC Innovations Awards, Reach Out and Touch as well as Zokonda Amayi Macheza that have exposed a good number of Malawians into tremendous positive changes.

 

“I am very much impressed with the efforts by MBC to sustain the quality of broadcasting. We signed agreement recently with MBC that will help the institution to procure the most needed morden equipment,” said Yanagisawa.

 

On his part, Director General for Malawi Broadcasting Corporation – MBC Aubrey Sumbuleta commended the cordial relation that exists between the institution and the Japanese government.

 

“Governments of Japan and Malawi have recently signed a grant agreement where Japan is going to procure modern equipment for MBC, and today Her Excellency Kae Yanagisawa decided to appreciate our operations,” said Sumbuleta.

 

The Director General also acknowledged the support the Japanese government has been rendering to the institution among others employees capacity building and equipment procurement.
