Mukiwa, Kamphulusa shine in TNM Golf at Gymkhana

Charles Mukiwa and Bose Kamphulusa emerged winners in TNM Golf tournament at Gymkhana Club in Zomba on Saturday.

Mikuwa and Kamphulusa were victors in men’s and women category respectively in the hosted by the country’s premier mobile network operator, TNM.

 

Mukiwa, who won with 47 points, expressed delight to have won the tournament after a long period of time.

 

“The last time I won a tournament was in 2012 and it feels good again to win today. My secret was patience and perseverance on the course. Today I just told myself to go and play my game and there I won it.” Said Mukiwa.

 

On the other hand Kamphulusa who has 36 handicups attributed her victory to calmness she displayed on the course.

 

“From the word go I told myself to be calm and this helped me win the game. I just want to thank my playing partners who really gave a good game,” said Kamphulusa.

 

Connie Maguvu Karuku came second with 40 points in the won in the women’s category and Sharon Marquees won the longest drive.

 

Paul Chidale won the longest drive in the men’s category whilst Chimdima Mhango grabbed the senior’s category.

 

The Gymkhana tournament comes few months after the mobile pioneer successfully sponsored another golf tournament in the country, Malawi Open, organized by the Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) with sponsorship from TNM held in April at Lilongwe Golf Club.

 

TNM Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Makata said the tournament which attracted 58 golfers from the southern region demonstrated TNM’s commitment in its quest to interact with the golfing community and customers in Zomba and surrounding areas.

 

“The tournament here in Zomba has given us an opportunity to interact with our customers so that we understand what they want from us. As TNM we appreciate the support we receive from customers and the golfing community on different products and services that we have introduced on the market as such we feel great to play golf together,” said Makata.

 

He added that the tournament also provides the mobile network and Technology Company the platform to showcase to its stakeholders the affordable mobile technology and seamless connectivity it offers to businesses and individuals through its TNM Business Services (TBS).
