Silver, widely known as The Bankers, gave their home fans false hope after starting the game on promising note as they were regular visitors in Wanderers territory.

The host, aiming for an early goal, created a number of chances in the first 10 minutes of the match. Wanderers looked disorganised and committed more fouls as a result of pressure from the Bankers and could hardly keep the ball.

Silver eventually hit the back of the net in the 16th minute through their forward Duncan Nyoni. Nyoni headed home from captain Lucky Malata's well taken free-kick outside the box.

However, the Nomads regained their form as the match headed for half-time break and ably equalized through their captain Francis Mlimbika with ten minutes remaining for half-time whistle.

In the second half, Wanderers continued from where they had left in the first half and continued to give the home side intense pressure. Both teams made a couple of substitutions in search of a lead but Wanderers looked more dangerous, especially on counter attacks.

Wanderers coach Jack Chamangwana's tactical changes gave his boys more steam and piled more pressure on the home team. Substitute Peter Wadabwa, who replaced Jabulani Linje, punished his former team with a 80th minute strike, giving Wanderers much needed 2-1 win.

Silver tried to push forward in numbers but the visitors jealously guarded their goal, and subsequently bagged full points.

In games played on Saturday, Mafco beat Mzuni 2-1 at Chitowe ground, Kamuzu Barracks and Civo FC settled for a 2-all draw. Likewise, Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks shared the spoils following their goal-less draw at Kamuzu stadium.
