Recent media reports said the diplomats are against being repatriated first and their household property be shipped later.
Confirming the development to MBC lawyer representing the diplomats, Gilbert Khonyongwa, said his clients are not challenging their recall but are against returning without their property.
"My clients are very willing to come home as soon as possible, but they are afraid that they will struggle here if they leave their properties back in US warehouses," said Khonyongwa.
According to the lawyer, nine diplomats from Malawi's missions in New York and Washington in America are the ones who have obtained the stay order.
Reacting to the development, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rejoice Shumba, said the ministry is yet to be served with the order.
"We are yet to be served with the order once they serve us we will be able to comment much," said Shumba.
