President Dr Lazarus Chakwera's attendance at the Global Education Summit has started bearing fruit with the United Kingdom Government pledging £37 million (MK41.9 billion) towards supporting the teaching of Mathematics and to keep girls in school.
 
British High Commissioner, David Beer said the development is one of the positive outcomes for Malawi's attendance at the Global Education Summit.
 
On the sidelines of the summit First Lady, Madam Monica Chakwera and Minister of Education Agness Nyalonje discussed with Hellen Grant, a British Conservative Party politician and legislator for Maidstone and The Weald since 2010.
 
Grant said: " I had a discussion with two strong advocates for girls education. We discussed the challenges girls in Malawi face and practical solutions for the same."
 
President Chakwera and Government officials left the country on Sunday to attend the global summit in London which ran from July 28 -29.
