Different areas in the Southern and Eastern parts of Malawi conduct initiation ceremonies as a way of preserving cultural norms and traditions.

CRIME RATE RISES IN MZUZU

Mzuzu Police have expressed concern over the rise in criminal cases especially rape, defilement and theft from January to July this year as compared to the same period last year. Mzuzu Police Officer In-charge Fred Chande disclosed this during the Station’s Executive Committee meeting comprising of police officers and community members. The meeting was aimed at jointly working together in reducing crime in the city.

The department of fisheries has expressed concern over negligence by some local fishermen who are failing to abide by fish farming regulations, a development they say is disturbing fish conservation efforts in the country.

 

 

The Director of Fisheries Friday Manjolo has since called on all stakeholders to follow laid down procedures if Malawi is to fully benefit from fish farming.

Malawian boxer Byson Gwayan has defeated Nigerian boxer Hammed Olajide in a non-title bout held at M1 center point in Lilongwe. Olajide surrendered in the fifth round forcing the referee to end the bout in favour of Gwayani.
