Executive Director for the Trust Margaret Mukwenha made the appeal in Blantyre during the graduation ceremony of students from her organisation. She said youth have the power to change the face of every society.
“The power to change destiny is in your ability to stick to your goals, set high goals to achieve in life. Do not be lazy; be aggressive when you get into the industry to succeed. The country is counting on you; young ladies, focus on education and training. Avoid early marriages and promiscuity,” advised Mukwenha.
The Executive Director further said Samaritan Trust focuses on rescuing vulnerable children and orphans from the streets and empowering them through education and vocational training.
“We help young people become responsible, independent citizens able to support themselves, choose their own paths and contribute meaningfully to society,” she added.
In his remarks, the guest of honor at the graduation ceremony John Kachitsa who is also Vice Chairperson of Samaritan Board of Trustees said the organisation is achieving a lot as it is able to stick to its purpose.
Kachitsa also inspired, and advised the graduates to take responsibility to help on the national development. He challenged the graduates to put God first in their endeavors.
“The industry is challenging, but be innovative; work hard, be determined, be unique and above all be patient enough for you to succeed,” advised Kachitsa.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Maria Msiska said the country should expect a lot as they have been equipped with skills that if put into practice can change Malawi.
Students have graduated in different fields including carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, electrical installation and tailoring. The education project is being funded by European Union and other partners.
