Government has announced a reduction in road tolls in some instances 70 percent lower than the initial fees .

Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako, made the announcement in Lilongwe on Tuesday.
The revised road tolls are as follows:
Buses from K8500 to K5000
Taxis with red number plates  from K1700 to K1000.
Ordinary vehicles with black number plates from K1700 - K1200.
Minibuses from K3500 to K2000.
Kazako said the Tonse Administrator believes in contact and dialogue hence engaging and reasoning with the organiser of the recent demonstrations against the high cost of living, Bon Kalindo.
The Information Minister was in company of  Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo, Homeland Security Minister, Richard Chimwendo Banda and Civic Education and National Unity Minister, Timothy Mtambo.
The ministers said  some of the demands require further scrutiny and consultations with relevant stakeholders as they have a significant bearing on the economy such as   issues of Value Added Tax on essential goods and services.
