According to letters this publication has seen, signed by DPP's Administrative Secretary, Francis Mphepo, Nankhumwa is back in the DPP fold and assumes his position before expulsion in 2020.
Others whose expulsion is equally reversed are Grezelder Jeffrey, Secretary-General of DPP, Jappie Mhango, Treasurer General of the party and Yusufu Nthenda.
"You are hereby informed that you are welcome back into the Party as a full member of the Party and to your original position as Vice President for the South.
"The Central Committee arrived at the above decision on the understanding that upon your return to the Party and your resumption of your duties as Vice President of the South, you shall abide by the Party Constitution and you shall respect the leadership of the Party. We hereby welcome you back to the DPP," reads part of the letter to Nankhumwa.
On October 2, 2020, the Central Committee of the DPP fired Nankhumwa, Jeffrey, Nthenda and Mhango for what it called insubordination to the party's leadership. However, the aggrieved parties sought relief from the Courts hence the party's rescission of the expulsion.
