Confirming the development, Police Publicist James Kadadzera also disclosed that they have also arrested Nations Msowoya from the Ministry of Finance on allegation of abuse of office and making false document.

“The two suspects are at are in custody at Lilongwe  Police Station,” said Kadzadzera adding Police will give more details later

On Monday, The Nation newspaper investigative report revealed that the bill, which was seeking to allow government borrow 98 360 000 euro (about K93 billion) to finance construction of houses for security agencies such as the Police and Malawi Defence Force (MDF), was smuggled into parliament for debate without the approval of cabinet, Justice Ministry and attorney general.

Director of Communications Sean Kampondeni has confirmed the development to the media saying the arrest is part of the investigation by the Police

On Monday during a briefing Kampondeni indicated the President was probing the matter.
