COLLINS MAGALASI, DOROTHY SHONGA CASE CONTINUES TODAY Featured

In the ongoing court case involving former Chief Executive Officer of the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority-MERA Collins Magalasi where he is being accused of offering a contract to supply MERA cloth to a business partner Dorothy Shonga of Vink Enterprises, the magistrates court in Lilongwe has adjourned the case to Thursday 15th July after the defence side and prosecution disagreed on an audit report which the government wanted to use for evidence.

The government side paraded MERA’s Internal Auditor Alexander Ganiza as one of its witnesses. Soon after entering the witness box he told the court that an audit of all procurements shows that the amount which was used to pay for the MERA cloth under question was K43 million though the cloth later budgeted at K16 million.

Senior Assistant chief State advocate Dzikondianthu Malunda said they saw nothing wrong in the state using such evidence as the court only concentrate on the pages relevant to the case.
