LL Police hunt ESCOM transformer criminals

Officers at Lilongwe Police Station are hunting for unknown criminals who tampered with a 100KVA capacity transformer worth K6.7 million at St. Paul’s Training Centre, located at Mlale Catholic Mission, on the night of July 6, 2024.

Deputy publicist for Lilongwe Police, Khumbo Sanyiwa, says the criminals pulled the transformer from where it was erected and dismantled it by removing the top cover and its copper coil.

The incident was reported to Mitundu Police Unit, and investigation officers, accompanied by a security officer from Escom, visited the scene.
