The Non-Governmental Organisation Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has approved a K1 billion fund to support local Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in institutional development, coordination and monitoring.
Speaking in Mzuzu, CEO of NGORA, Edward Chileka Banda, said the funds target strengthening NGOs to align their projects with the Malawi 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals.
Delegates from the Northern Region discussed various challenges facing the NGO sector in Malawi, including non-compliance, which currently stands at 31%.
This non-compliance issue raises concerns about potential criminal activities like fraud and money laundering among concerned NGOs.
