“Your Excellency, I am confident that our bonds of brotherly relations will continue to flourish in the years to come for the mutual benefit of our two people’s. I am confident that our excellent cooperation at bilateral level would help to promote peaceful co-existence of our peoples and contribute to the socio-economic development of our sisterly countries.
Added the Malawi leader: “Please accept our utmost cordial wishes for Your Excellency’s personal good health and well-being and also continued peace and prosperity for the friendly people of Tanzania.”
On December 9, 1963, Tanzania achieved independence after an internal revolution overthrew Sayyid Jamshid ibn Abdullah, who had succeeded to the sultanate in July 1963 on his father’s death.
