Chilemba lost to Russian Maxim Vlasov in a 12-round World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global title battle in Gelendzhik, Russia, while Bashir was beaten by Northampton boxing star, Chantelle Cameron, in a World Boxing Council (WBC) vote off at Brentwood Centre in London, United Kingdom respectively.

Boxingnews.com website reported that Chilemba did not impress during the fight.

“On this particular night, 32-year-old Vlasov was in the better shape than Chilemba who has not fought since losing to Dmitry Bivol for the title almost a year ago. Vlasov looked fresh as he moved well in the opening round, using his jab and overall work rate to outpunch the Malawian.

"Chilemba tried to counter Vlasov on his way in and used his trademark defence against the Russian but to no avail,” Boxingnews.com wrote.

“However Isaac did better at the mid-part of the fight, using stinging blows to the body and frequent jab to keep Vlasov honest and slow him down.

“The Russian was a bit better and he landed more on Chilemba. The Golden Boy himself started to lose energy after eighth round,” the website wrote.

In England, Bashir was outclassed by Cameron who dominated the bout.

Before the fight, the Malawian female boxer had a clean record in her eight knockout fights. She was also an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) world champion.

Bashir told a local newspaper that she blamed her loss on poor preparations at home.

“A lot of things happened ahead of the fight that affected me. I had to do my trainings at home,” she said.
