Mutharika tells opposition: ‘Accept you lost May 21 vote’

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika told the opposition on Sunday that they should accept they “lost” the May 21 vote, and should join him to develop the country.

President APM: Accept you lost vote. President APM: Accept you lost vote.

“Just get used to the fact that you lost the May 21 vote,” Mutharika told thousands of DPP supporters at the victory rally for the eastern region held at St. Augustine 3 primary school ground in Mangochi.


“I am President for all Malawians. I am your President whether you like it or not,” he said.


Mutharika, who arrived at the rally with the First Lady Gerturude Mutharika in a jubilant mood, said it was the nature of elections that “some lose and others win.”


He said:”Next time may be things will work out for you.”


He told DPP supporters not to despise the losers but should remain peaceful.
