EU top envoy in Malawi recalled to Brussels

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Malawi and Head of delegation, Sandra Paesen, has been recalled from her tour of duty in the country.

According to information sourced by MBC, the EU head of Delegation has been given seven days to pack and head back to the EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.


No reason has been given by the EU for Paesen’s early departure and the authorities in Malawi have not yet commented on the matter.

Paesen presented her letters of credence to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at the Kamuzu Palace on October 16 last year.

The envoy was appointed as Head of the EU delegation from Uganda where she served as the head of the Political, Press and Information section in the EU Delegation to Uganda.
