Nsanje Police arrest two for being found in possession of human tissues

Police in Nsanje are keeping in custody two men for allegedly being found in possession of human tissues, the charge which is contrary to Section 16A of Anatomy Act which prohibits sale of body tissues.

The two are Joseph Mola, 62, and Sozini Gracious, 19.  both from Mbangu Village, Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje district. They were arrested in wee hours of Monday by investigators  following a tip from the general public.


Nsanje Police public relations officer Agnes Zalakoma told MBC that some community well-wishers tipped the police that they noticed the suspects putting on sale two still born babies in the area of Ngabu in the district. After quick Police response, the two were arrested while in possession of bones of the still born babies which were believed to have been exhumed from Mbangu Cemetery.


Zalakoma said  the two are expected to appear before the court after investigations.


She further said Nsanje Police is thankful to well-wishers for the tip about the malpractice and would like to encourage members of the general public to report such matters to Police immediately they happen.
