Government plans to strengthen the country’s health system at all levels by addressing challenges that affect health service delivery at the district level.
Minister of Health Madalitso Baloyi said this in Salima during the opening of a two-day meeting between the Ministry of Health’s Management and District Health Management aimed at strengthening the country’s health systems.
Baloyi says the ministry seeks to build a health system that is responsive, resilient, patient-centred, and this is achievable if there is strengthened collaboration.
She said the target is to reform the country’s health system by improving communication, aligning goals, and having a clear and coordinated approach between the ministry and district management going forward.
Chairperson of the Directors of Sanitation and Health in Malawi, Dr Henry Chibowa Jr., says the current status of health service delivery is a mixed bag.
Dr Chibowa says he is optimistic that the meeting will help the officials scrutinise shortfalls and devise ways of improving district health systems for better results.
The meeting has brought together directors of sanitation and health from all districts in the country.
